
Women’s Soccer Extends Winning Streak to 5 with 2-1 Win Over Huston-Tillotson
ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Texas A&M University-San Antonio Women's Soccer squad took down Red Rivers Athletics Conference foe Huston-Tillotson University on the road to extend their current winning streak to five matches. Heading into today's match, the Jaguars were fourth in the conference and today's win will keep the Tigers at the top of the standings as conference playoffs approach.
A&M-San Antonio fell behind early in the match but scored two unanswered goals to claim their fourth road win of the season. Freshman Ana Barragan (Brownsville, Texas) scored the game-tying goal in the first half and sophomore Hannah Kim (San Antonio, Texas / Warren) scored the game-winner late in the second half. The Jaguars are now (9-3-1, 6-3-0 RRAC) on the season after today's win. Huston-Tillotson falls to (4-7-3, 3-6-1 RRAC) following today's loss.
How It Happened
Just two minutes into the match, Lesly Davila of HTU scored a goal to put the Rams out in front. In the 14th minute of the match, Barragan put a shot on frame but it was saved by the Rams keeper. About five minutes later, the first year striker put her second shot of the day into the back of the net to even the score at one a piece. Freshman Daniela Garcia (San Antonio) recorded her first assist of the year on the goal.
After the first goal was scored, the Jaguar offense found its rhythm and started to string passes along and take shots. A&M-San Antonio took four more shots with two of those being on goal before the first half ended. Sophomore keeper Maram Abdeljaber (El Paso, Texas/Franklin) recorded her lone save of the day in the 41st minute to keep the match tied 1-1.
Freshman Keyla Torres (Sharyland, Texas) started the second half in goal for the Jaguars. The A&M-San Antonio offense immediately came out of the break and over powered the Rams. The Jaguars took five shots before HTU could answer with one of their own. In the 78th minute Barragan found Kim in the box and she scored her second goal of the season to help lift the Jaguars over the Rams. The TAMUSA defense had a strong showing the second half by only allowing three shots.

Sophomore Brooke Theis (Spokane, Washington) tallied three shots on the day while sophomore Mia Davis (Pasadena, Texas / Memorial) totaled two shots on the day.
The Jaguars outshot the Rams 14-to-7 on the afternoon.
