Men's Golf Competes in First Tournament
Westworth Village, TX- The Jaguar men's golf team competed at the Texas Intercollegiate Tournament hosted by Texas Wesleyan University this past Monday with Jacob Pena having a historic outing.
Jacob Pena's three round tournament total was the lowest in school history. Pena shot 71, 70, and 70 to go five under for the tournament. He finished the tournament tied for fifth place individually. What is more is he finished high enough to make the All-Tournament Team.
The other notable player for the Jaguar's was freshmen Nils Emil Sjo who shot a 71 on day three of the tournament, which moved him up to a 21st place finish.
As a team, the Jaguars finished the tournament in seventh place.
Coach Christi Cano was pleased with her team's play. "The first tournament of the season is always exciting, especially when you are playing three freshmen for the first time. It was a strong tournament field that allowed us to see where we stack up. Jacob continued his solid play from last season with a historic three round performance. Overall there were many positives as we head into play in Waco this next week-end."
The Jaguars will continue their Fall season at the McLennan Fall Invitational in Waco, TX September 17th through 19th .
